Surface Area
Surface Area is a measure of the exposed surface of
a solid sample on the molecular scale. The BET (Brunauer, Emmet, and Teller)
Theory is the most popular model used to determine the area; results according
to the Langmuir model are also available.
Dubinin surface area is also offered by the Particle & Surface Sciences
Analytical Services Laboratory. Dubinin is often used when working with char or
carbon material. The Dubinin analysis uses CO2 and is available on the Tristar
3000.
The Tristar
3000 and the Gemini
2375 are all in use at our laboratory.
